Emirates SkyCargo (Emirates) has launched AI Tech, a dedicated product designed to help customers move critical and sensitive artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure safely and on time. Given the increased demand for AI infrastructure globally, the dedicated service aims to meet this need according to Emirates, and support transnational commodity movements in this field.
In July alone, Emirates transported more than 700 tonnes of AI infrastructure across its global network, and demand has continued to grow.
Tailored for AI server racks, semiconductors, GPUs, capital equipment and other critical hardware infrastructure, the product combines priority loading, specialised handling and proactive shipment monitoring through Emirates SkyCargo’s command centre in Dubai to keep deployment schedules on track.
“Behind every AI breakthrough is physical infrastructure that needs to arrive safely and on time. AI Tech is designed to give customers confidence that their critical equipment will move seamlessly across our network, supported by operational oversight and proactive communication. As this sector expands, our ambition is to become the carrier of choice for companies operating across the AI ecosystem,” Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President, Emirates SkyCargo said.
By March 2027, the airline will operate a fleet of 23 dedicated freighters providing valuable maindeck capacity for the transportation of tall and dense server racks often weighing more than 3.5 tonnes.
In addition to its freighter fleet, Emirates SkyCargo also provides capacity on its wide-body passenger aircraft.
Computing and processing systems around the world are rapidly escalating in complexity, and given the accelerating adoption of AI technologies, the movement of technology equipment has become increasingly complex.
Large-scale deployments often involve high value cargo, compressed timelines and specialised handling requirements.
AI Tech provides customers with a dedicated logistics solution supported by globally standardised operating procedures including priority loading, enhanced shipment oversight and proactive customer coordination throughout the transportation journey.
Key features, according to the Dubai headquartered carrier, of AI Tech include: globally standardised dedicated handling procedures to maintain equipment orientation and minimise risk of damage, priority loading and scheduling for time-critical deployments, airport-to-airport shipment visibility, with milestone updates monitored through Emirates SkyCargo’s command centre in Dubai, proactive customer communication a
nd coordination throughout the shipment journey and specialist project cargo support for oversized and heavy cargo.
“Drawing on extensive experience transporting technology and high-value cargo worldwide, AI Tech underlines Emirates SkyCargo’s commitment to serving the rapidly evolving needs of the AI sector with a logistics solution built around speed, reliability, visibility and specialised handling,” Emirates stated.
