DB Schenker, one of the world’s leading global logistics service providers, is to open new warehouse facilities in Ilvesvuori, Nurmijärvi.
The 25,600 sq m Nurmijärvi Distribution Center – NDC – at Ilvesvuorentie 8 has been built in accordance with the BREEAM Very Good sustainability certificate and uses, among other things, geothermal heat and energy produced by its own solar panels (300 kWp).
Together with the warehouse on the adjacent site, opened in 2012, DB Schenker now has a 50,000 m2 contract logistics center in Ilvesvuori.
“Six of our previous warehouses in Finland have been awarded Eco Warehouse environmental status by our parent company Deutsche Bahn. This latest warehouse also meets these requirements. Our contract logistics hub in the metropolitan area, which has now doubled in size, enables us to offer a wide range of storage services conveniently located along the Helsinki–Tampere motorway E12 and opens up new opportunities for our customers’ storage needs throughout the Nordic region,” Petteri Nurmi, CEO of DB Schenker in Nordics, said. With a total investment of €13.5 million, DB Schenker can offer its contract logistics customers extensive value-added services, fast delivery times and excellent connections to the Finnish road network, the main ports and Helsinki-Vantaa airport. The facilities of Ilvesvuori contract logistics hub can be scaled according to the customer’s needs, both in terms of surface area and type of facility, including the storage of chemicals. The post DB Schenker opens a new warehouse in the capital area of Finland appeared first on AIR CARGO WEEK.
