- This milestone enhances the airport’s role in facilitating efficient and trusted international trade.
Viracopos International Airport, in the State of São Paulo, has achieved the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certification granted by the Receita Federal do Brasil (Brazilian Customs Authority), becoming the only airport in the State of São Paulo to obtain this recognition.
The AEO certificate is a recognition awarded to organisations that demonstrate high levels of security and reliability in their operations within the international logistics chain. The program is based on guidelines from the World Customs Organisation (WCO) and aims to facilitate global trade by promoting greater security and efficiency in customs processes.
The certification attests that Viracopos adopts robust control, risk management, and cargo security processes, and is considered a low-risk operator for customs inspection purposes. Among the main benefits of the AEO status are increased agility and predictability in foreign trade operations, priority treatment in inspection procedures when selected, risk reduction, and access to exclusive communication channels with the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service.
