One of the most notable achievements under his leadership was the successful launch of scheduled e-commerce freighter services from China. This development marked a significant milestone for the Scottish gateway and positioned it firmly on the international air cargo map.

The introduction of these scheduled services laid the groundwork for establishing a certified cool chain facility at Prestwick. This strategic move enabled the first-ever direct scheduled air cargo exports of Scottish salmon, seafood, and pharmaceutical products to China—highlighting Barry’s impact on unlocking new trade corridors for Scotland’s perishable and high-value goods.
