Sonoco ThermoSafe has added additional capabilities across the global Pegasus ULD network to address the growing need for cost-effective, sustainable transportation of pharmaceutical & life science shipments by air.
The Pegasus ULD is an advanced passive aircraft-certified Temperature Controlled Container (TCC) available via a direct lease from Sonoco, or via the growing global network of strategic Partner Airlines and Freight Forwarders. The list of airlines approving the Pegasus ULD continues to grow, with a total of 17 airlines from around the world. For a full list of airlines please visit www.thermosafe.com. Pharmaceutical companies can also coordinate with their logistics providers for access to the Pegasus ULD fleet.

Sonoco’s Global Service Network supports this expansion with strategic partnerships with ground handling and MRO partners, including ACL Airshop, Unilode Aviation Solutions, Swissport, ALHA Group and Focus WFS. ULD Maintenance, Repair, and Operation (MRO) is managed according to FAA regulations.
The Pegasus ULD stands out as the only advanced passive aircraft-certified Temperature Controlled Container (TCC) available. Its unique design allows it to be locked directly into the aircraft’s lower deck cargo hold without the need for pallets, straps, or nets. This feature speeds up airport processing, reduces delays, and minimizes costs, ensuring on-time and on-temperature deliveries crucial for patient safety.
Sustainability remains a key consideration for everyone , and the Pegasus ULD offers a reusable packaging solution that significantly reduces landfill waste compared to many other packaging solutions available in the market. The container is also equipped with FAA-approved real-time cloud-based Telemetry, providing GPS location, temperature monitoring, and many other environmental factors.
“The Pegasus ULD is one of the most customer- and environmentally friendly technologies on the market for transporting time and temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals,” said Bourji Mourad, Director Global Leasing and Market Development at Sonoco ThermoSafe. “We’re thrilled to expand our global service network, partner airlines, and forwarding partners.”
The Pegasus ULD network will continue to expand throughout 2024 and 2025. The Pegasus ULD will be on-site at the LogiPharma USA conference September 23-25 in Boston.
