The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) has welcomed the industry back to Miami for the start of the 2024 Air Cargo Forum with a packed agenda.
Speaking on the opening day of the event, Glyn Hughes, Director General of TIACA, stated: “TIACA is the dedicated global association for the air cargo industry, and we’re always talking about the industry needing to evolve and adapt because market conditions are changing. “e-commerce and pharmaceuticals, for example, have grown immensely. Capacity challenges and the need for training and talent attraction are big hurdles now. We, as a trade association, have to make sure we’re providing solutions and supporting our members.
“When I walk around the event, I want to hear people engaging. I want to hear people shaking hands, saying, ‘Great, I love working with you,’ or ‘I’m looking forward to our new partnership.’ “It means the industry is engaging, and that’s really how it started, and I’m looking forward to it continuing.”
Whether listening to companies outlining their ideas on the venue’s Spotlight Stage, hearing Boeing’s World Air Cargo Forecast, Rotate’s Air Cargo Outlook or panels on issues like digitisation, attendees were spoilt for choice with the wealth of topics on display throughout the opening day.
“We are excited at the engagement we’ve already had in one day. We were hoping to see numbers that exceeded the event two years ago but, by this afternoon, we’d already exceeded expectations with more than 3,250 attendees. It’s fantastic to have such an overwhelming response and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the event holds,” Roos Bakker, Vice Chair of TIACA, added.
“As the only association for the industry, by the industry, we are passionate about delivering an event that brings people together in a place where they can build relationships, explore ideas and create lasting partnerships,” Steven Polmans, Chairman of the Board of TIACA, stated.
“If you have ideas on how we can make this event better, TIACA more effective or improve this industry, please share them. We are here to listen, learn and make a difference.” Emir Pineda, Director of Marketing and Air Service Development Division Miami-Dade Aviation Department, stated: “It’s been a fantastic start to the Air Cargo Forum. We had a great opening event and we are very excited about the opportunities that Air Cargo Forum is going to open up for all those participating to network and grow their businesses. Thank you to everyone who has made this happen!”
