- LATAM Cargo Chile has launched a weekly Boeing 767 freighter service between Frankfurt and Antofagasta, providing 25 tonnes of direct cargo capacity to northern Chile.
- The new route is designed to support the region’s mining industry by transporting machinery parts and components without the need for connections via Santiago.
- LATAM Cargo said the service strengthens its Europe-South America network and supports more efficient logistics for high-value industrial sectors.
LATAM Group, through its cargo subsidiary LATAM Cargo Chile, continues to expand its international network with the launch of a direct route between Europe and northern Chile. The service, which began operations on May 23, connects Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in Germany with Andrés Sabella Airport (ANF) in Antofagasta using a Boeing 767 freighter aircraft.
Operating on a weekly basis, the route provides 25 tonnes of dedicated capacity to meet the logistics needs of northern Chile, particularly those of the mining industry. The primary cargo transported on this corridor consists of parts and components for mining machinery. The direct service removes the need for secondary connections or ground transportation from Santiago, offering a more efficient alternative to the existing route that includes a stop in the Chilean capital.
“The launch of the Frankfurt–Antofagasta route is the result of a focused effort to develop tailored solutions that deliver real value to our customers’ supply chains. Northern Chile is home to mining and industrial projects that require highly precise logistics. By offering a direct flight from a strategic European hub such as Frankfurt, we are not only significantly reducing transit times, but also reinforcing our role as a partner capable of providing the network the industry requires across the region,” said Jorge Carretero, LATAM Cargo’s Sales Manager for Europe.
Strengthening the Europe–South America Corridor
With this new route, LATAM Cargo reinforces its strategy of strengthening intercontinental corridors through dedicated capacity and reliable schedules. The service complements a cargo network that, within Chile, transports high-value products such as salmon and fresh fruit on international routes. In the domestic market, the company serves northern Chile with courier shipments and documents, while supplying southern regions with essential goods.
The new Antofagasta route further demonstrates LATAM Cargo’s commitment to high-value productive sectors and directly supports the growth of international trade in the region.
