As tariff deadlines draw closer and US container imports near record high according to Descartes Systems Group’s latest Shipping Report, Fluent Cargo today launched its Global Disruption Feed, providing real-time intelligence on supply chain disruptions affecting shipping routes worldwide.
Fluent Cargo is an online, routing, schedules, tracking, pricing and emissions platform for cargo shipments.
The timing reflects escalating trade volatility that’s reshaping global logistics planning. Beyond tariff uncertainty, recent disruptions illustrate how quickly isolated events cascade through supply chains – from Sydney’s ports being suspended since July 1 due to a powerful “bomb cyclone” with winds up to 125km/hr, to rail closures beginning July 4 that have suspended connectivity between inland terminals and Hamburg’s main container facilities.
“With potential new tariffs creating immediate pressure to optimise supply chains and the US-China trade relationship facing renewed uncertainty, logistics managers need real-time disruption intelligence more than ever,” said Archival Garcia, CEO of Fluent Cargo. “Traditional monthly planning cycles simply can’t handle today’s volatility, whether it’s trade policy changes, severe weather, or infrastructure failures.”
The Global Disruption Feed works alongside Fluent Cargo’s route planning and shipment tracking capabilities, automatically providing users on which disruptions affect their planned routes or active shipments. The system provides severity ratings and detailed location information, enabling logistics professionals to shift from reactive crisis management to proactive supply chain strategy.
“Companies that can adapt their routing strategies immediately will maintain competitive advantage while others struggle with disruption,” Garcia added. “Our platform transforms how businesses respond to the unexpected, from severe climate events to port closures.”
