COLBECK & CLARKE, your Pangea partner in Canada, is pleased to share below essential advisory and key guidelines on Canada’s commercial reporting requirements, emphasizing the importance of timely eManifest filing. It underscores potential penalties and resources to ensure seamless compliance.
Please share the following with your Export Operation teams (Air and Ocean).
There are commercial reporting requirements for the movement and control of unreleased goods in Canada by carriers, freight forwarders and warehouse operators. Using information collected from Advance Commercial Information (ACI) and eManifest, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) detects risks and makes decisions before shipments arrive at the border and/or are released into Canada.
As their partners overseas, COLBECK & CLARKE relies on you to ensure all the required information for them to file the eManifest is received within the time frames prescribed below to avoid fines/penalties.
- Air Freight: 1 business day prior to arrival at destination
- Ocean Freight: 48 hours (2 business days) prior to sailing at origin
Draft copies of the pre-alert are acceptable.
Failure to comply will result in a CAD $2000 Penalty per occurrence.
