- Budimex S.A. has submitted the most competitive bid in the tender for the construction of deep foundations for the passenger terminal, as part of the Port Polska investment programme.
- Of the six bids received, the company offered the lowest price, amounting to nearly PLN 146 million (gross).
The procurement procedure for the execution of deep foundation works – so-called piling for the passenger terminal – was launched on 12 December 2025. Nine of the largest contractors and consortia, all of which had previously entered into framework agreements with the company, were invited to participate. The deadline for submission of bids expired on 20 February, with six bids received, all within the planned budget. The most competitive – and lowest – bid, totalling PLN 145,952,189.91 (gross), was submitted by Budimex.
The foundation works will include the installation – using a range of technologies – of more than 8,194 piles and columns, with lengths ranging from 9 to 30 metres. The total combined length of the planned ground reinforcement elements will exceed 140 kilometres. The scope also includes the construction of intermediate foundations, which will form the base for the future passenger terminal structure.
The contract is expected to be signed in June, with construction works scheduled to commence later this year. All piling works are due to be completed by the end of 2027, with final acceptance planned for early 2028.
This marks a breakthrough moment for the entire project. The selection of the contractor signals the transition of the Port Polska programme into its decisive delivery phase and represents the symbolic start of construction of one of Europe’s most advanced airports.
Port Polska is a strategic investment programme carried out by the Centralny Port Komunikacyjny, aimed at creating a modern national transportation system that efficiently integrates air, rail, and road transport. As part of the Port Polska Programme, a new state-of-the-art airport will be built between Warsaw and Łódź, along with a high-speed rail network, scheduled for completion in 2032. The new airport will be designed to serve 34 to 44 million passengers annually in its initial years of operation, with plans for flexible expansion in the long term according to market needs and growth forecasts.
