- BBN Airlines Thailand, the country’s first dedicated ACMI operator and part of Avia Solutions Group, has announced Vietjet Thailand as its first airline partner.
- Beginning December 1, 2025, BBN will supply an Airbus A320 under a wet lease agreement to support Vietjet Thailand’s domestic routes between Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket.
- The partnership includes aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance, allowing Vietjet Thailand to focus on network and customer experience.
- BBN’s entry comes amid strong recovery in Thai aviation and tourism, with domestic and international traffic surging. The collaboration offers a flexible solution to meet seasonal demand without long-term investment, aligning with Thailand’s growing role as a regional aviation hub.
BBN Airlines Thailand, an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) specialist operator, and a partner of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest ACMI provider, names Vietjet Thailand as its first partner airline. BBN Airlines Thailand is supporting Vietjet Thailand through an ACMI partnership that begins on 1 December 2025, supplying one Airbus A320 for domestic services between Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) and Chiang Mai and Phuket.
BBN Airlines Thailand received its Air Operator Certificate in October, becoming Thailand’s first dedicated ACMI carrier. The airline had operated under the name Thai SmartLynx during its development phase before commencing full services as BBN Airlines Thailand.
The ACMI arrangement includes aircraft provision in a 180-seat economy configuration, experienced flight and cabin crew, maintenance, and insurance coverage, allowing Vietjet Thailand focus on network management and customer experience, while leveraging BBN Airlines Thailand’s operational flexibility and reliability.
“This partnership represents a key milestone for BBN Airlines Thailand as we roll out flexible capacity solutions to Thailand and the region,” said Martynas Grigas, Chairman, BBN Airlines Thailand. “We are delighted to welcome Vietjet Thailand as our first ACMI partner and confident our support will align with their operational needs, especially as we enter the busy holiday season.”
To ensure seamless passenger experience, onboard services on these wet-leased flights will be managed jointly; a Vietjet Thailand cabin representative will be on board each flight to ensure services meet Vietjet Thailand standards while coordinating with BBN Airlines Thailand’s crew and staff.
The timing of this partnership coincides with robust recovery across Thailand’s aviation and tourism sectors. Recent data from Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) show that in the first half of fiscal 2025, over 68 million passengers passed through its six main airports, a rise of 12% year on year, with domestic traffic accounting for more than 26 million passengers.
Meanwhile, international tourism is surging with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recording over 16.7 million arrivals between January and June 2025, supported by a 7% year-on-year increase in inbound seat capacity, marking Thai tourism’s return to pre-pandemic strength.
With rising travel demand, domestic mobility, and regional tourism opportunities, this ACMI partnership provides a timely, efficient solution to satisfy surging capacity needs without requiring airlines to commit long-term or heavy capital investment. BBN Airlines Thailand and Vietjet Thailand believes this partnership will help deliver reliable, flexible service to domestic travellers and support Thailand’s continuing rise as a major aviation and tourism hub.
