When it comes to shipping cargo, the AGI Bristol team have sent all manner of goods to all 4 corners of the globe! And that includes this special piece of car-go too. That’s right, the team recently transported a Formula 1 car simulator to Berlin for a customer. Keep reading to find out all about it!
Now, transporting cars and other vehicles isn’t as straight forward as it seems!
First of all, you need to find a suitable mode of transport. In this instance, the car and simulator was being sent by road, but due to the Formula 1 car being on wheels, there was a slight chance of movement during transit, so Neil Hawkins, a Freight Account Manager at AGI Bristol, had to come up with a plan!
To guarantee the car didn’t move during transit, we put pallets underneath the wheels, and strapped the wheels to the pallets. This was an excellent solution, as it was then really straight forward to load and unload from the curtain sider using a fork lift truck.
Hawkins commented: “This was a great project to work on, especially seeing the car and all of the simulator tech in the flesh!”
This shipment also required a Carnet, and this was arranged with Neil at AGI Bristol too. Neil even went the extra mile by collecting the Carnet himself and delivering it to the customer!
Hawkins concluded: “The customer was so pleased with how we dealt with the transport of the car simulator that they’ve booked for us to transport it to their next show in Dubai!”
