MASkargo recorded one of its most significant special-cargo achievements on 18 November with the successful transport of Malaysia’s new giant pandas, Chen Xing and Xiao Yue, from Sichuan, China, to Kuala Lumpur.

The operation underscored MASkargo’s recognised expertise in handling sensitive, high-value, and high-welfare cargo, further strengthening its position as a trusted carrier for specialised missions.

The pandas arrived safely at MASkargo’s KL International Airport (KLIA), where they were greeted with a ceremonial water salute, a gesture marking Malaysia’s warm welcome and MASkargo’s pride in being selected to undertake this high-profile assignment under the renewed 10-year Malaysia-China panda conservation agreement.

The arrival ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Malaysia, senior representatives from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), MASkargo, Zoo Negara, conservation bodies, and government agencies, reflecting the strength of bilateral ties and continued commitment to conservation efforts between both nations.

As the designated carrier, MASkargo adhered strictly to international live-animal transport standards, ensuring optimal aircraft conditions, specialist crate handling, in-flight welfare monitoring, and coordinated ground support to safeguard the pandas throughout their journey.

Upon arrival, Chen Xing and Xiao Yue were transferred for veterinary checks and placed in mandatory one-month quarantine at the Giant Panda Conservation Centre, Zoo Negara, before their official introduction to the Malaysian public. The mission required close collaboration between MASkargo’s operations, ramp, and ground handling teams, live-animal specialists, veterinary experts, NRES officers, and the China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda, ensuring smooth execution from departure to delivery.

With Chen Xing’s lively personality and Xiao Yue’s gentle disposition, their arrival marks a new chapter in Malaysia’s ongoing panda diplomacy. The successful mission also reinforces MASkargo’s leadership in special-cargo logistics and its commitment to supporting national initiatives while strengthening meaningful global partnerships that advance both business and conservation.
