• Edinburgh Airport (EDI) has appointed Mark Johnston as its new CEO, taking over the reins from Gordon Dewar who leaves the position after over a decade.
• Johnston, currently the Chief Operating Officer at London Gatwick, is set to join EDI on the 1st October this year.
• An independent report found that EDI delivered GBP2.7 billion Gross Value Added for Scotland in 2025, and supported over 44,000 jobs.

Mark Johnston is set to replace Gordon Dewar as the CEO of Edinburgh Airport (EDI) this October, after Dewar’s 14 years at the helm of Scotland’s busiest airport. Johnston joins EDI, from London Gatwick, where he is currently the Chief Operating Officer.

Mark Johnston, incoming CEO, said, “It’s been a privilege to lead the operations teams at London Gatwick for two and a half years and deliver a world-class service to our passengers and airlines in a very challenging market. We have continued to innovate to further optimise what is already the world’s most efficient single-runway airport, enhancing operational performance and resilience.”

As a critical cog in Scotland’s air logistics infrastructure, EDI was found to have handled over GBP500 million worth of air freight in 2025, by an independent study conducted by BiGGAR. This predominantly supports exporters and importers in sectors including life sciences, manufacturing, and engineering. The same analysis also concluded that the airport delivered GBP2.7 billion Gross Value Added for Scotland in the same year, and supported over 44,000 jobs

Gordon Dewar, current CEO, Edinburgh Airport said, “It’s a bittersweet moment because it brings my own time at Edinburgh Airport closer to an end, but I’m absolutely delighted to see someone of Mark’s calibre appointed as my successor.
