• Frankfurt Airport handled 6.2 million passengers in July, up 1.4 percent year-on-year, despite a 3.2 percent decline in aircraft movements as airlines cut capacity. Higher load factors and larger aircraft supported passenger growth, while cargo throughput rose 0.9 percent to 180,622 metric tons.
• Summer leisure demand drove traffic, particularly to Italy, Spain, Greece and Croatia, while long-haul growth was notable on routes to Israel, China and Brazil. African destinations, including Kenya and South Africa, also recorded strong demand.
• Fraport’s wider airport portfolio saw overall passenger growth of 2.2 percent to 23.4 million, with particularly strong increases at Ljubljana, the Greek airports, and the Bulgarian coastal airports. Traffic at Lima and Antalya, however, edged down year-on-year.

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) welcomed some 6.2 million passengers in July 2026 – an increase of 1.4 percent compared to the same month last year. During the peak summer travel period, holiday destinations in Southern Europe saw particularly strong demand, notably Italy, Spain, Greece and Croatia. On long-haul routes, traffic to destinations in Israel, China and Brazil increased noticeably. Strong demand was also recorded for destinations in Africa, particularly Kenya and South Africa.

Aircraft movements at Frankfurt Airport, by contrast, declined during the reporting month, reflecting significant capacity reductions by airlines. As a result, the number of takeoffs and landings contracted by 3.2 percent year-on-year to 41,286 in July. Passenger numbers nevertheless increased, supported by higher capacity utilization and the use of larger aircraft. Meanwhile, total maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) edged down by 0.8 percent to around 2.6 million metric tons. Cargo throughput (comprising airfreight and airmail) was up 0.9 percent to 180,622 metric tons in July.

Across the Group, most airports in Fraport’s international portfolio recorded passenger growth in July 2026. In Slovenia, traffic at Ljubljana Airport (LJU) surged by 14.9 percent year-on-year to 208,638 passengers. In South America, Fraport’s two Brazilian airports in Fortaleza (FOR) and Porto Alegre (POA) recorded a total of 1.3 million passengers, up 5.9 percent. Traffic at Lima Airport (LIM) in Peru dipped by 0.6 percent to around 2.3 million passengers in the reporting month. In Europe, Fraport’s 14 Greek airports registered overall growth of 5.4 percent to 6.9 million passengers. The Bulgarian coastal airports of Burgas (BOJ) and Varna (VAR) welcomed 871,379 passengers in total, an increase of 5.2 percent compared to July last year. On the Turkish Riviera, traffic at Antalya Airport (AYT) declined by 1.2 percent to 5.6 million passengers.

The total number of passengers at all airports actively managed by Fraport increased by 2.2 percent year-on-year to around 23.4 million in July 2026.
