- LATAM Cargo Chile has launched a dedicated freighter link between Frankfurt and Antofagasta, marking a new direct Europe–northern Chile corridor designed specifically for cargo rather than bellyhold capacity, with the service starting on 23 May and operating weekly via Frankfurt Airport.
- The route adds around 25 tonnes of weekly dedicated capacity into northern Chile, primarily serving mining and industrial supply chains that require tighter transit windows, reduced handling steps and more predictable routing compared with existing services transiting through Santiago.
- Positioned as part of a broader Europe–South America network strategy, the operation reflects a push by LATAM Cargo to reinforce intercontinental connectivity through stable schedules and exclusive capacity, supporting export-heavy sectors in regions where logistics precision is tightly linked to production continuity.
LATAM group, through its dedicated cargo subsidiary LATAM Cargo Chile, has continued to expand its international network and strengthen its global connectivity with the launch of a direct route exclusively for cargo transport between Europe and northern Chile. The operation, which began on May 23, links Frankfurt Airport (FRA) in Germany with Andrés Sabella Airport (ANF) in Antofagasta.
With one weekly frequency, this route will inject approximately 25 weekly tons of capacity dedicated to meeting the connectivity needs of northern Chile, particularly for products related to the mining industry. With this, the company offers a new alternative to the existing route that includes a stopover in Santiago, the capital of Chile.
“The launch of the Frankfurt-Antofagasta route is the result of focused work designed to create tailored solutions that add real value to our customers’ supply chains. Northern Chile is home to mining and industrial projects that demand precise logistics. By offering a direct flight from a strategic European hub like Frankfurt, we not only significantly reduce transit times, but also reaffirm our role as a partner capable of providing the network that the industry requires in the region,” said Jorge Carretero, Cargo Sales Director for Europe at LATAM.
Consolidation of the Europe-South America corridor
With an offer that injects nearly 25 weekly tons of dedicated capacity, LATAM Cargo consolidates its strategy to strengthen its intercontinental corridors. By providing stable schedules, exclusive capacity, and the necessary logistical flexibility, the airline reaffirms its commitment to the economic development of high-value productive sectors and directly boosts international trade in the region.
