Singapore Changi Airport recorded one of its strongest air cargo years on record in 2025, handling 2.08 million tonnes of airfreight, a 4.5 percent year-on-year increase, underlining its role as a key global cargo hub amid volatile market conditions.

Growth was recorded across exports, imports and transhipments, supported by front-loaded activity in the first three quarters of the year and sustained demand from high-value sectors. Strong global semiconductor flows — driven by AI, electric vehicles and cleantech — were a major contributor to throughput.

China remained Changi’s largest air cargo market, followed by the United States, Australia, Hong Kong and India, while the fastest-growing cargo markets were China, the United States and Taiwan. The performance reflects Changi’s continued importance as a consolidation and redistribution hub linking Asia with North America and Europe.

Freighter connectivity also expanded during the year. JD Airlines launched thrice-weekly Shenzhen–Singapore freighter services, while Turkish Cargo reinstated weekly Istanbul–Ho Chi Minh City–Singapore operations, strengthening links between Europe, China and Southeast Asia. FedEx Express further boosted long-haul capacity with new non-stop freighter services to Anchorage, enhancing connectivity on the Singapore–United States lane.

With air cargo growth supported by diversified trade flows, expanding freighter services and strong demand for time-critical goods, Changi Airport enters 2026 well positioned to maintain its status as one of Asia’s leading cargo gateways.
