- Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK), Poland’s future transport and air cargo hub, has launched a “Design and Build” tender for 92 km of new and upgraded roads surrounding the planned airport near Warsaw.
- The project includes key motorway connections and bypasses to ensure efficient access for freight and passengers.
- Scheduled for completion by 2031, the infrastructure is a core element of the Port Polska programme, supporting CPK’s role as a major logistics gateway for Central and Eastern Europe. Contracts are expected to be signed in Q2 2026.
As part of the Port Polska investment programme, Centralny Port Komunikacyjny has announced a “Design and Build” tender for four road projects connected with the future central transport hub and airport. The projects cover the construction of around 92 km of new roads and the upgrading of existing routes forming the road network around the planned airport. The tender is open to contractors with whom the company signed a framework agreement in April this year. Contracts are expected to be signed in the second quarter of 2026.
The road system will be developed in central Poland, west of Warsaw, in the immediate area surrounding the future airport.
The contract has been divided into three parts:
Part 1: Eastern access to the airport, connecting the “CPK East” junction with the A2 motorway at the Baranów interchange.
Part 2: Eastern bypass of the airport, linking the northern airport bypass with the “CPK East” junction.
Part 3: Northern airport bypass and the upgrade of national road no. 50, including new junctions and connections to the A2 motorway.
The procedure covers the design and construction of approximately 92 km of roads together with the necessary supporting infrastructure. The new network will provide efficient access to the airport, connect it with Poland’s national road system and improve transport accessibility for neighbouring areas.
The scope of works includes the construction of new high-standard road sections, the modernisation of existing roads, new motorway-style junctions and grade-separated intersections, as well as infrastructure for local traffic, pedestrians and cyclists. Environmental protection measures, including noise barriers, and modern road safety solutions will also be implemented.
All projects will be delivered under the “Design and Build” model, meaning that selected contractors will be responsible both for preparing the design documentation, obtaining required permits and carrying out construction works. This approach is intended to shorten delivery time and ensure better coordination between design and construction.
The launch of tenders for the four road projects is a key step in preparing the transport infrastructure around the new airport developed under the Port Polska programme. A coherent and efficient road network is essential for the future airport’s operation and will support the economic development of the surrounding region. Detailed tender documentation has been published by the contracting authority. Bids may be submitted until 16 February 2026. The new road network is scheduled to open in 2031.
The construction of roads around the airport, alongside the airport itself, the High-Speed Rail network, the logistics hub and Airport City, is one of the most important elements of the Port Polska investment programme.
Port Polska is a strategic investment programme, delivered by the state-owned company Centralny Port Komunikacyjny, focused on building the transport, logistics, and mobility backbone of Central Europe. By efficiently integrating air, rail, and road networks, it will radically transform the region’s infrastructure – removing barriers, supporting development, and better serving society. The project is not only vital for Poland’s connectivity and economic growth but will also act as a key driver of integration across Central and Eastern Europe. The airport is set to become operational by the end of 2032, together with the first section of the high-speed rail line connecting Warsaw and Łódź.
